My husband and I have 4 children, ages 17-24.
I am a teacher and help my husband with our grain farm operation.
I have always been a runner. I ran sprint distances on the high school track team and was involved in many other sports such as softball, volleyball, basketball and lacrosse. Becoming a wife then mother left me with less of my own time so I started distance running whenever I could get out of the house.
I love triathlon, trail and road running, road and mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, water skiing, winter biking and cross-country skiing. Various ultra events are starting to fill my calendar.
I love to camp, travel and have adventures.
I'm always looking for new runs or triathlons and new places to visit and explore. I love the mountains and the ocean. We try to visit both often.
One of my favourite trails is in a Provincial Park about 1/2 hour from our home. The Glad Lake Trail is our year round trail to hike, run, ski and bike. Its trees, lakes and challenging terrain have brought such meaning and freedom to my life; hence my blogging handle running Glad.
I have a quest for knowledge and often have my nose in a book learning more about injury prevention, core workouts, nutrition and improved physical health. I have a strong faith and am passionate about my family, healthy living, helping people and bringing out the best of myself everyday. I spend a lot of time in my kitchen playing around with new recipes.
